ZZ Top released the live album Raw . This is their first release since the death of Dusty Hill , which occurred in July 2021 due to undisclosed health issues.
The material compiles the soundtrack from the documentary That Little Ol' Band From Texas , released on Netflix in 2019. The recordings were live, but without an audience. It was just Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbons (vocals and guitar) and Frank Beard (drums) playing together at Gruene Hall, a legendary music venue in Texas, United States, the band's home state.
Raw marks an important point for the band, which now continues without Hill. Before passing away, the bassist gave his blessing for the band to continue, now with Elwood Francis , the technician responsible for the group's guitars and basses for the last three decades.
