Pantera may record new music for the first time in a long time. But for that to happen, Zakk Wylde the current guitarist during the band's reunion tour , has imposed a specific condition (via Whiplash ). He explained to Guitar Interactive :

“Rita [Haney Dimebag Darrell ’s ex-girlfriend ] has tons of tapes of Dime doing riffs and stuff. […] If they were, obviously, his original riffs and ideas, yes, of course [I’d be up for recording them]. Pantera is made up of those four guys… If it was something Dime wrote and that he and Vinnie [Paul] were working on, [I’d be up for recording it].”

To reinforce his argument, Wylde cited a hypothetical situation where Eric Clapton would play songs by the Jimi Hendrix Experience .

“So, I think it would be something like, let’s say, if it were Eric Clapton playing with [Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer] Mitch [Mitchell] and [bassist] Noel [Redding] , because if Eric came out and did what we’re doing now, did a Jimi Hendrix , and Mitch and Noel asked Eric Clapton to come because he was friends with Jimi and they were like, ‘Would you come out and sing and play Jimi’s stuff?’”

"It's just Mitch and Noel. If these are Jimi's original ideas, and they're going to record them correctly, taking them from a small cassette tape recorder, yes, that would be cool."

No matter how hard he tried to explain, his thinking sounded confused, especially since Redding and Mitchell had already passed away in 2003 and 2008, respectively.

Previously, Wylde had spoken out against it , but apparently he changed his mind about it. In any case, Pantera continues its tour, and fans remain hopeful for new music in the future.
