In an interview with Loudwire , Zakk Wylde Pantera lineup is not to record new music. The idea is to maintain the band's legacy through shows that appeal to fans' nostalgia and introduce the band to new generations.
Currently, Zakk is touring with Pantera and remains humble in his role as Dimebag Darrell's . He mentioned in the interview that performing Pantera's repertoire has been a wonderful experience. The group's dynamic on stage is phenomenal.
At each show, he and Phil Anselmo try to estimate the percentage of people who are seeing the band for the first time. “'How many people, this is their first time seeing Pantera?' It's mind-blowing. I mean, I'd say sometimes it's 60-40, 70-30. That's incredible,” said the musician.
Regarding the possibility of recording new music, the guitarist stated: “Obviously, if we ever did anything, it would be under a different name, you know what I mean. Like Jimmy Page playing with Paul Rodgers , they're The Firm . They're not going to come out as Led Zeppelin .
Berzerkus, after the Pantera tour.
For September, Zakk is planning the Berzerkus , his first festival. “I’ve had this idea for years,” Wylde told host Chuck Armstrong . “People have been asking, ‘Oh, you thought of that the other day?’ No, I’ve been planning it for years, but I had to mow the lawn enough and clean people’s pools so I could raise the money,” he said humorously.
The guitarist said the festival will be like an extension of his birthday party, because all his friends will be attending. Then, he listed some of the participants: Black Label Society , Cody Jinks , Clutch , Rival Sons , and Black Stone Cherry .
In addition to a diverse musical program, Berzerkus will feature various activities, such as a craft beer festival, a musical equipment exchange meetup, and even a Miss Berzerkus competition.
