Slipknot: YouTuber transforms “Sulfur” into pop-punk; listen to the result here.

The musician even created a story to accompany the transformation

With all the covers and transformations of songs, perhaps there's nothing stranger than imagining a band like Slipknot doing pop-punk. Well, thanks to SugarpillCovers , now we know what it would sound like.

The YouTuber transformed the track “Sulfur,” from the album All Hope is Gone , into a pop-punk song, completely altering the band's sound. In the video description, the musician shares a story that inspired him to create the project:

"It was 2008 and Slipknot was working on the successor to Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) . Corey [ Taylor ] looked at Clown [ Crahan ] and said, 'Hey man, this metal thing sucks. Let's grab a pizza and think about how we can change our sound.'"

SugarpillCovers then recounts that he imagined the musicians discussing how their parents didn't understand them, and so they decided to work on a pop-punk album for over two years, but ultimately decided to return to their original sound, leaving only the recording of "Sulfur" available.
