You Me At Six, an English pop-rock quintet, announces the end of the band after 20 years on the road.
This Wednesday afternoon, the 31st, through a video released on social media , the band, which has eight studio albums, with Truth Decay (2023) being the last in their discography, announced both the end of the band and a farewell world tour for 2024 and 2025.
The band's vocalist, Josh Franceschi, stated (via Louder Sound ): “When we started YMAS, we were kids. We always wanted longevity, to travel and experience life as a group of friends. We feel that on the eve of our 20th anniversary as a band, now is a good time to take a break. We are in a privileged position where our fans still want to see us live and celebrate the life of this band. So that's what we'll be doing in 2024 and 2025. We can't wait to see our fans on the road.”
Starting in February, the band will embark on a UK tour with partially sold-out tickets, in addition to headlining the Slam Dunk festival in May.
Farewell Letter
The poignant video directed by Thomas Davis , titled "Tempo" (in a free translation), functions as a farewell letter, as the band walks through a cemetery, the farewell message is narrated. Check it out in full:
"Time.
Something we never have enough of, but always need more of.
Sometimes it passes slowly, sometimes it passes quickly.
Some things end quickly, others were built to last.
Twenty years in the making, beyond our wildest dreams.
Trips around the sun, we've lost count, one more for the memories.
People love stories with endings.
Page after page, year after year.
We'll give you a final chapter because we climbed our Everest, faced our fears.
It's time
. It's time for the finish line.
It's time for goodbye.
So, for the last time, once again,
the time has come."
