Considered one of the greatest guitarists in metal history, Yngwie Malmsteen returned to Brazil after his controversial visit in 2022. In his 11th visit to the country to celebrate four decades of his career, the Swedish musician performed at Monsters of Rock 2026, a festival where he previously performed in 2015.

Despite being a big name in the genre, the Swede's performance was lukewarm and failed to excite the audience, even during moments when he was performing acrobatic guitar tricks on stage, with an imposing wall of Marshall amplifiers as part of his setup.

It was still possible to notice Malmsteen's discomfort with his roadies, repeatedly asking the production crew to increase the volume of his guitar and microphone throughout his performance.

Musically, his virtuosity impresses with the way he unleashes notes and demonstrates his technique, especially in "Far Beyond The Sun," "Rising Force," and "Black Star." Despite being an excellent guitarist, Yngwie suffered from the poor lineup in this edition, which was geared directly towards hard rock bands. His performance could have been better if he had been part of a lineup where he shared the stage with more metal acts.
