Bassist was diagnosed with cancer in May.
Yes's founding bassist, Chris Squire, passed away last Saturday from acute erythroblastic leukemia, a rare form of cancer. The announcement was made on the band's official Facebook page. Squire was 67 years old and was diagnosed in May.
"It is with heavy hearts and unbearable sadness that we announce the death of our dear friend and co-founder of Yes, Chris Squire," the band said in a statement. The musician passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was receiving treatment for the illness.
Chris Squire founded Yes in 1968 with Jon Anderson, and remained the only founding member present on all of Yes's albums and phases. Chris Squire appeared on Wikimetal in 2013. Check out his full interview here .
