Yes John Lennon 's classic "Imagine" today, October 2nd, in honor of what would have been the icon's 80th birthday next Friday, October 9th. This cover will be featured on the album * The Royal Affair Tour, Live From Las Vegas* , which arrives on October 30th via BMG.
The tribute is made even more beautiful by highlighting that a young Alan White , who would later become the drummer for YES, was present at the recording of the original song in May 1971, after the Beatles , at John's home studio in Berkshire, playing in Lennon's Plastic Ono Band
While the band played “Imagine,” a film was shown behind the band of John Lennon recording the song in his studio with George Harrison, Klaus Voormann , and Alan White. “They put together a special film with footage from that time. We played 'Imagine' on the Yes tour, and they ran after me. The first time I saw them, I turned around and asked, 'Who the hell is that guy?!'” Alan laughed.
