Corey Taylor , vocalist of Slipknot , is part of the growing group of artists who do not value the institution of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The awards ceremony became the target of a barrage of criticism within the rock and metal community throughout May, after Iron Maiden was left out of the 2021 inductee list, which included Foo Fighters , Tina Turner , Fela Kuti , and others.
After receiving fierce criticism from Bruce Dickinson , Dee Snider , and Gene Simmons , the museum and institution dedicated to recognizing great names in music also received a negative review from Taylor.
“First of all, I don’t care about that Hall of Fame, because I think it’s a load of rubbish. They don’t honor anything except pop music,” he commented in an interview with Lazer 103.3 radio (via Metal Injection) . “In fact, they only include real rock bands when they need to give in to pressure. They’ve disrespected so many bands in the past, putting others before those that really deserve it, that I’d probably follow the Sex Pistols .”

When the Sex Pistols were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006, Johnny Rotten published a less-than-friendly note to the organization, and the group refused to attend. If Slipknot receives their first nomination in the years to come, when they become eligible, the vocalist doesn't intend to say thank you.
“I would say, ‘Your Hall of Fame is a sham. I don’t care if I’m part of it or not. You have no idea what the spirit of rock and roll really is. So, take that and shove it you know where,’” Taylor continued. “That’s what I believe in. I’ll probably never be inducted, but I really don’t care.”.
