World Rock Day

World Rock Day gets a special program across the country.

We've selected 11 events for you to celebrate the best of rock and roll

Thirty-three years ago, the Live Aid festival took place in London and Philadelphia, and Phil Collins , who was part of the lineup, declared it "Rock Day." Although the date is celebrated with fervor only in Brazil, celebrations around the world bring together thousands of rock lovers.

“Neither the Americans nor the English took it seriously. Only Brazilians and Brazilian rock radio stations, since that time, have considered this to be Rock Day,” explains singer, radio host, iconic 80s composer and journalist Kid Vinil to Superinteressante magazine.

Initially, the celebration revolved around raising money for the humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia. From that event, we celebrate July 13th with pride in being rock fans. And even though World Rock Day isn't taken very seriously in other countries, we Brazilians appreciate the excuse to celebrate the genre we listen to and love so much.

With that in mind, we've put together a selection of events happening around the country for you to celebrate the date with plenty of rock and roll.
