They thanked Lita Ford for being a role model for them

At the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards , Lzzy Hale of Halestorm and Lita Ford joined other female rockers on stage to perform The Runaways' classic "Cherry Bomb."

After their performance, they joined together in a video to talk about the influence and inspiration that Lita Ford has been for them and for many other women in music.

Ash Costello of New Year's Day, Alecia Demner of Stitched Up Heart, Emma Anzai of Sick Puppies, and Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd of Butcher Babies had some words to say about Ford, thanking her for being a role model they could look up to.

“You’ve definitely paved the way for many girls to come out and not care what the world says, because they too can be a part of Rock N' Roll just like the boys ,” said Shepherd.

“When you pick up a guitar for the first time, as a girl, for me, that was the light at the end of the tunnel. I had hope because Lita came before me and showed that it was possible ,” reveals Lzzy Hale.

“I’m so proud of you all ,” Ford said after hearing the statements. “There’s no reason why a woman can’t play guitar or drums ,” she added.
