"Don't Tread On Me" saved the life of the woman and her dog
A woman in Canada was walking down the streets of Vancouver Island when she spotted a mountain lion. Startled, she used Metallica to scare the animal away.
Dee Galant and her dog Murphy were walking peacefully when the puma began to slowly walk towards them, forcing her to think of something unusual. Her first reaction was to put on the heaviest sound she had on hand.
“I thought it would be the loudest thing on my phone at that moment and that it would probably scare the puma. And that was still the message I wanted to send to her: don’t step on me,” the woman recalls.
And it worked. As soon as Dee put the track on, the puma got scared and changed course, leaving Galant and Murphy behind. During an interview with Consequence of Sound , where the woman told the story, she also said that she wished she could tell vocalist James Hetfield about the incident and say that he “saved her life.”
According to a report by Kelowna Now , the band's vocalist learned of the incident and called Dee. She revealed that she was so surprised she couldn't believe James had actually spoken to her, so the musician sent her a photo of himself, confirming that it was indeed him.
