Wolfgang Van Halen talks about his retaliatory strategy against hateful comments online

The singer and multi-instrumentalist often responds to the "trolls" who attack him on social media

In an interview with The Washington Post , Wolfgang Van Halen spoke about why he always responds to negative comments made about him online instead of just "letting the trolls die."

“It’s so much more therapeutic to kill them yourself instead of letting them die alone, don’t you think? It’s fun to finish them off,” Wolfgang said. “Half the time, one of two things happens: either they retaliate in a worse way or they immediately apologize because they receive a percentage of what they just did to you and they don’t know how to deal with it.”

Wolfgang Van Halen also commented that one of his strategies is to pin hateful comments to the top of his Instagram page so that other people respond to the troll and they get paid back in kind. “It’s a fun way I found to deal with it, with humor,” Wolfgang says. “People say that if you ignore it, eventually it will disappear, but that’s far from the truth.”

Wolfgang Van Halen recently released the debut album of his solo project, Mammoth WVH . The album is now available on all digital platforms.
