Wolfgang Van Halen began his musical career in grand style. At the age of 16, his father – none other than Eddie Van Halen , the legendary guitarist – invited him to replace Michael Anthony in the band that bears the family name.
It's easy to imagine that his globally recognized name would help Wolfgang with his new project, Mammoth WVH , his first solo album, released on June 11th. In an interview with radio station 89 FM , the musician answered whether this helps or hinders him.
“A bit of both,” he explained. “While a surname can open doors, it doesn’t keep them open. So I believe that if you have the gift, that’s what will take you further. I guess only time will tell.”.
