Last Sunday, March 3rd, the Grammy Awards , and among the rock nominees was Wolfgang Van Halen , son of the legendary Eddie Van Halen . The musician was nominated for Best Rock Song for "Distance," a track he wrote for his late father.
Wolfgang attended the event but did not win the award, which went to Foo Fighters with "Waiting On A War" . However, the musician expressed his gratitude in a Twitter post after the event.
“We came, we saw, but we didn’t win and that’s okay! I had the most incredible night with the two most important women in my life.” Wolfgang was accompanied by his girlfriend Andraia Allspop and his mother Valerie Bertinelli.
He continued: “It’s an honor to be nominated for the first song I released solo, in a category with artists I’ve admired my whole life. I don’t know if it will ever sink in. My father didn’t win the first time he was nominated either, so it feels like I’m really following in his footsteps.”
Wolfgang concluded by saying, “I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I know I’m very grateful. What a crazy experience this has all been.” And then he thanked the Recording Academy for the recognition.
