Within Temptation collaborated with Ukrainian artist and Eurovision Jerry Heil on the new single “Sing Like A Siren”. The official music video for the track was released this Monday, May 26th, directed by Maarten Welzen .
The song serves as the soundtrack for the documentary Within Temptation: The Invisible Force . The 23-minute production follows in detail the journey of vocalist Sharon Den Adel and her husband, guitarist Robert Westerholt, to Ukraine amidst the conflicts with Russia.
The relationship between Jerry Heil and Within Temptation
Artist Jerry Heil describes “Sing Like A Siren” as “more than just a song — it’s the soundtrack to the movie we live in.”
She continues: “There are two main characters in this story: a girl and an elemental force: water. However, as the story unfolds, we realize that, in fact, there is only one—because humans and nature are one. The turbulent water represents the challenges we face on the way to our 'safe harbor.' But the key is understanding that we don't need to fight against nature. When we see ourselves as part of it, we realize that sometimes we are the ones who create the storm.”
Jerry also says he's been a fan of Within Temptation since adolescence and never imagined a collaboration with the band: “Not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine that one day we would create a song together. It's an incredible honor for me. Both the band and I performed at the Ukrainian music festival 'Atlas Weekend', where we met in Kyiv. At that moment, I knew I couldn't let the opportunity slip away—I had to suggest we work together on something. Sharon's vocal style is deeply authentic and resonates with my artistic vision. So I knew immediately that it would be an incredible fusion: rock, classical vocals, and Ukrainian folk themes.”
The documentary reveals how war affects not only the inhabitants of Ukraine, but also the creative and moral energy of artists around the world. Within Temptation: The Invisible Force is now available on YouTube.
