Within Temptation announced this Friday, the 18th, all the details of the release of their new album. Scheduled for October 20th of this year, the album Bleed Out promises messages that reflect the current political climate of the world, as shown in the title track, also released today.
The highly anticipated successor to Resist (2019) will be released worldwide by Force Music Recordings, Within Temptation's own label. The band promises "contemporary and impactful riffs and grandiose melodies that showcase their symphonic roots," with provocative lyrical themes. "More than ever, this is a band that is not afraid to take a stand on issues that are important to them," they describe in a press release.
One of the events that shaped the concept of Within Temptation's new album was the start of the war in Ukraine, openly explored in the single "Wireless ." The audience can expect more songs about global injustices in the contemporary world. "As artists, we are inspired by the world and we have this platform. We are storytellers and I believe that, as human beings, these are issues we should be talking about," emphasizes vocalist Sharon den Adel .
In their new song released this week, “Bleed Out,” the band addresses the situation of women fighting for their rights in Iran following the murder of Mahsa Amin, a 22-year-old woman arrested by the local morality police. According to authorities, the accusation was that the woman was wearing “non-Islamic attire” and, therefore, she was detained. Masha did not leave the police station alive. “I lived in Yemen as a child. My parents lived in several countries in the Middle East, and I visited them many times when they were there. It’s a different world. Because of my time there, I feel connected to that part of the world. I was incredibly impressed by the bravery of the young women who have burned their headscarves knowing they would be thrown in prison or something worse – it’s heartbreaking,” comments Sharon.
