Within Temptation released their new single “Wireless” this Friday, the 19th, in which the band narrates the disillusionment of war. The song begins the countdown to the highly anticipated release of the band's eighth studio album, scheduled for the end of the year.
With a dark and heavy atmosphere, guided by Sharon Den Adel's clean vocals, the track arrives with the mission of representing the beginning of a new era for the band. For the new album, Within Temptation intends to keep their DNA alive, but also expand their horizons with powerful riffs and epic choruses.
In their lyrics, the band isn't afraid to address a number of important political and social issues. In "Wireless," Within Temptation speaks from the point of view of a soldier who goes to war convinced he's doing it for a good cause, but decides he was used to destroy many lives, including his own.
The video features a series of images of war battalions and soldiers, in a clear reference to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
