"But let's say I'm dead, nobody will care," said the drummer
The Canadian doom-metal band Witchrot announced their breakup last month with an insane and dramatic post on their Facebook page . Now, they have revealed that they will continue with the group and, despite what they had said before, the drummer did not die.
In the statement, the band said: “Due to the unfortunate reality of our guitarist sleeping with my girlfriend of seven years, Witchrot will be going on hiatus.” The statement was signed by frontman Peter Turik, who also added, “Oh, and our drummer died.”.
Now, the Canadians have released a statement to Alternative Press confirming that the drummer did not die and that they will continue performing. In the statement, the vocalist says that "two people I care about have stabbed me in the back a trillion times and it hurts."
Turik also said that when he wrote the post on Facebook, he asked the drummer, who had left the band a few weeks earlier, what he thought. “He said, ‘Yeah, but let’s say I died, nobody would care’… Well, clearly they did care.”
She admits to being surprised by the attention the post received, given that the Facebook page only had 300 likes. "The number of messages I received was overwhelming.".
Witchrot released their self-titled debut EP on October 21st and are currently touring to promote their work.
