Many may know Jada Pinkett Smith for her work in film and television ( The Nutty Professor, Gotham, Set It Off ) or for her long-standing marriage to Will Smith ( The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Pursuit of Happyness, Suicide Squad ). What few know is that in the 2000s, the actress was the lead singer of a nu metal band called Wicked Wisdom .
To honor Jada on the most recent Mother's Day, the Smiths' youngest daughter, Willow Smith, decided to surprise her mother by reuniting her old band and taking over the vocals on the single "Bleed All Over Me".
The surprise was arranged during an episode of the Smith family's show, Red Table Talk , which airs via Facebook . Jada was very excited about the gift and can be seen jumping and enjoying her bandmates' performance while Willow delivers a powerful vocal performance.
Young Willow began her music career very early, at the age of 10, when she released the pop hit " Whip My Hair ," which was a chart success in the 2010s. Recently, now at 20 years old, the artist demonstrated her aptitude for rock by releasing the excellent " transparentsoul ," featuring Travis Barker of blink-182 on drums.
You can check out Willow's performance with Wicked Wisdom in the player below starting at minute 32, and compare the performance to the original version by her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, right after.
