The Puro: Noel Hogan's (of The Cranberries) new project features Brazilian singer Mell Peck; listen here.

The duo released the first song from the project; “Prison” comes with a Portuguese version.

After two years of long-distance collaboration, Noel Hogan (guitarist, co-founder and songwriter of The Cranberries a new project with Brazilian singer Mell Peck The Puro .

The first track to be released is “Prison,” which also has a Portuguese version called “Prisão.” The song combines Mell's smooth vocals with Hogan's powerful guitars and pianos, resulting in a powerful track. Listen below.

The collaboration between the two came about after Noel discovered Mell's videos on YouTube in 2019, through recommendations from several people who suggested the singer's work. Mell, who now lives in Porto Alegre, explains: “We met and during our conversations the idea of ​​composing together came up. Noel sent me one of his songs for me to write the lyrics for, and I was so excited that I wrote and recorded the song in two days. Since then, we haven't stopped, and ideas are always coming. I always felt we had something in common.” 

During the pandemic, the duo entered an extended period of songwriting, which resulted in nearly thirty songs, some with lyrics in Portuguese, others in English; and many, like "Prisão," with versions in both languages.

Noel and Mell hope to be able to play The Puro's songs live soon, and want to schedule shows in Brazil sometime in 2022. "Prison" is a release from ForMusic Records .
