Shawn James was born and raised in South Chicago, Illinois (USA). “I’ve always been surrounded by a lot of heartfelt, soulful music and hardworking, real, down-to-earth people. Although I no longer follow any religion, I value the time I spent in church and how it shaped me into who I am now,” the musician says in his biography.
He began his songwriting career in 2012 and hasn't stopped since. He's played everything from folk to blues, R&B, gospel to rock, metal, and many genres in between. "The main constant across all genres is that everything is done with emotion, feeling, heart, and a lot of soul. I want to say what I say and I deeply feel what I play," he emphasizes.

The musician will be in Brazil to perform in Curitiba, at Basement Cultural, on April 14th , in São Paulo, at Fabrique Club , the following day, and in Rio de Janeiro, at Agyto on the 16th.
Shawn, who debuted in Brazil in September 2022, says he's eager to return to the country. "The energy at the shows was some of the greatest I've ever experienced in my 10 years of touring, and it was an acoustic show! I'm excited to bring the whole band this time and also play in a few more cities," the musician comments.
