João Gordo released a punk rock version of "Atrás do Trio Elétrico," a classic by Caetano Veloso.
The lead singer of Ratos de Porão transformed the song, originally released on Caetano's self-titled album in 1969.
The release is the second single from the continuation of Brutal Brega , a project that began during the pandemic in partnership with producer Val Santos ( Toyshop , VIPER ). The project's first album, released in 2022, is a fun tribute to "brega" music, with versions of classics by artists such as Sidney Magal and Reginaldo Rossi.
Now, João and Val are preparing a second album, this time a tribute to MPB (Brazilian Popular Music). Scheduled for release in 2024, the album will include versions of songs by artists such as Caetano Veloso, Belchior , Luiz Gonzaga , and many others. In May, the album's first single was released, a version of "Coroné Antonio Bento," a classic made famous by Tim Maia.
The version also comes with a music video directed by Raul Machado , and includes an audio message from Caetano himself, reacting to the version of his song.
Brutal Brega's first album is now available on all platforms, and on CD at the Wikimetal Store .
