Hugo Mariutti The Last Dance last Thursday, the 29th, which is now available on CD at the official Wikimetal . The project, which follows A Blank Sheet of Paper (2014) and For a Simple Rainy Day (2017), is his first since the end of Shaman .
The album is heavily influenced by British music, drawing on references from different decades and genres such as post-punk, ballads, and alternative rock. "A mix of everything that comes from the UK," reveals the guitarist. "This work ranges from Gerry & The Pacemakers , The Clash , The Smiths , Joy Division , and The Beatles to Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys ." The album thus departs from the heavy metal for which the artist is known and explores alternative sounds and introspective songs.
The Last Dance , released via ForMusic Records , was entirely produced and composed by Hugo. The musician only didn't play the more elaborate piano and drum parts, which were recorded by Flavio Marchesin and Edu Cominato . Mastering was done by Steve Kitch .
Mariutti also mentioned that the recent project was the most challenging of his solo career: “I try to evolve with each project. The compositions for this work were outside my comfort zone for singing. Instead of adapting them, I kept the original keys to convey greater emotion. So I needed to practice a lot.”.
