On April 16th, August Burns Red released the EP Guardians Sessions . The work features six tracks in total, including B-sides, covers, and reimagined versions from the group's latest studio album, Guardians (2020). It includes some of their most recent releases, such as a metal version of the theme song from the HBO series Westworld , and a cover of the classic "Chop Suey!" by System of a Down.
Speaking about the new project, guitarist JB Brubaker explained that it arose mainly because of the tracks "Standing In The Storm" and "Icarus," which were left out of the Guardians . "When all tours were canceled in March 2020, we started working on some covers and reimagined versions of some songs from Guardians," he reported.
“These songs were recorded in the summer of 2020. We wanted to be productive during this break and work on a project that would be fun for us and for our fans,” the musician added.
