Black Sabbath voted the greatest English heavy rock
Black Sabbath has been voted the greatest English heavy rock band of all time, according to a BPI (British Recorded Music Industry) poll.
In the survey, which included approximately 4,000 votes from fans of the genre, the band received almost half of the votes (45%). Far behind the winner, in second and third place were Iron Maiden (22.6%) and Led Zeppelin (21.6%), respectively. The band stated that they are honored to receive such an award from their fans.
The research also indicated that Metallica's 1991 Black Album is the most recommended for a beginner in the world of Metal.
Black Sabbath recently revealed they are finalizing the composition of their new album, which is expected to be released in April 2013.
