David Gilmour's wife says Roger Waters is a "thief and a hypocrite"; the singer agrees.

Among other things, the journalist also accused Waters of being "anti-Semitic" and a "tax evader."

Twitter was abuzz with barbs exchanged last Monday, the 6th, between Roger Waters , David Gilmour , and Gilmour's wife, Polly Samson .

The uproar began with a tweet by Polly, a writer and journalist, attributing a series of negative (and some even criminal) characteristics to Roger Waters.

On her Twitter account , Polly Samson wrote: “Unfortunately, Roger Waters, you are antisemitic to your last rotten cell. You are also a Putin supporter and a liar, thief, hypocrite, tax evader, lip-syncer, misogynist, envious, megalomaniac. Enough of your nonsense.”

The seriousness of the accusations did not go unnoticed by Waters' team, who published a statement on the musician's social media shortly afterward. "Roger Waters is aware of the inflammatory and largely inaccurate comments made about him on Twitter by Polly Samson, which he completely refutes," the message reads. "He is currently seeking legal counsel regarding his position."

Even after Roger Waters' team's statement, David Gilmour, Pink Floyd , also used his Twitter to agree with his wife, quoting Polly's tweet and writing: "Every word is demonstrably true."

It is still unclear what may have motivated Polly Samson's words at this precise moment. Waters is a major opponent of the Israeli government, which recently led to accusations of antisemitism against him, which the musician vehemently denies. Early in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, he expressed his opinion on what Ukraine's mistakes were that led to the war, but later wrote an open letter to President Putin calling for peace and calling the invasion of Ukraine a "horrendous" act of aggression.
