The sudden death of Joey Jordison , former drummer and co-founder of Slipknot , shocked the world last Tuesday, the 27th. The precise cause is still unknown, but in a statement, the family said the musician passed away "in his sleep."
A long list of rock stars offered condolences and tributes to Joey through social media. The most recent person to speak out was Alicia Taylor Corey Taylor 's wife . On her Twitter profile, Alicia wrote:
“As a fan, the news of Joey’s death has been devastating, but I haven’t had much time to process everything yet. My focus has been on supporting my husband and dedicating myself to my family. Things are difficult, but everything will get better with time – one day at a time. Rest in peace, Joey.”
Earlier today, Slipknot spoke out for the first time about the death of their friend and former bandmate, stating that without Joey the band "wouldn't exist." Shortly after the news of the drummer's death, the band went "blackout" on their social media , presumably due to mourning.
