Dusty Hill's widow, from ZZ Top, recalls the musician's final moments: "He was gone in an instant."

The bassist and vocalist died last Wednesday, July 28th, at the age of 72

Charleen McCrory , widow of Dusty Hill ZZ Top 's social media , providing more details about the musician's final moments.

“I decided to step into the Dusty spotlight to thank all his fans, colleagues, and friends for the overwhelming outpouring of love for The Dust. This gives me hope that he will not be forgotten,” she began. In the text, Charleen celebrated 19 years of “fairytale” marriage with “the kindest and most caring man a woman could dream of meeting.”. 

Without confirming the cause of Hill's death, she revealed the musician's plans to undergo further physiotherapy sessions to treat the chronic bursitis in his hip that had kept him off the ZZ Top tour shortly before his death, this time with a new medical approach, with a projected return to the stage in September.

“Early Wednesday morning my world and yours would lose a great musician and I would lose my greatest love. He woke me up and we started talking, while he was speaking sweetly to me, he suddenly stopped and was gone in an instant,” she recalled about the day her husband passed away, on July 28th, at the age of 72. “I will bury my husband tomorrow (3rd), I would like to ask you to look to the heavens at noon and wish Dusty 'Good luck, go with God'.”. 

The band ZZ Top is back on stage , honoring the tour dates as a way to pay tribute to the musician's final wishes . "The show must go on," he commented when he stepped away for hip treatment.
