The future of Whitesnake on the road seems increasingly uncertain. In an interview with The Rockpit , guitarist Reb Beach stated that it's unlikely the band will tour again, as vocalist David Coverdale no longer wants to deal with the exhausting routine of traveling.
The statement comes three years after the band's last tour, which was interrupted due to COVID-19 cases among its members. Since then, the vocalist has avoided long-term commitments on the road, reinforcing his aversion to travel. In 2022, the band had to cancel their tour with Scorpions , which also contributed to rumors of a definitive retirement from the stage.
During the interview, Reb Beach emphasized that his colleague had already expressed discomfort with the long trips and demands of touring. “David simply hates traveling. He’s done it for so many years and now he wants to enjoy life in a different way,” stated the guitarist. According to Beach, age and logistical issues are increasingly weighing on the vocalist's decision, who has preferred to focus on other music-related activities without the need to be on the road for extended periods.
Despite the definitive tone, he didn't completely rule out the possibility of sporadic performances or special events. "You never know, something might come up that motivates him, maybe a one-off show, but going on a long tour, I really don't think that's going to happen," he explained. The uncertainty about the band's future has generated speculation among fans, who still hope for one last chance to see Whitesnake live.
The guitarist also revealed that Coverdale asked for the band's equipment to be kept ready for possible performances. However, with no activity in recent years, he believes that any future shows will be one-off events in fixed locations, such as Las Vegas. The idea of a world tour, with numerous trips, is practically ruled out.
Another factor reinforcing the decision is the sale of their copyrights for approximately US$50 million. Although fans still hold out hope of seeing the band on tour, Reb Beach's words indicate that the chances are minimal.
