Whitesnake released today, the 19th, The Blues Album Red, White And Blues trilogy , a series of compilations that began last year with the albums Love Songs (Red) and The Rock Album (White).

The new compilation brings together a mix of classics and lesser-known tracks from Whitesnake albums spanning from 1984 to 2011, and even songs from David Coverdale , Into The Light .

The vocalist elaborates on the inspiration behind the project, which reflects the importance of blues in rock, citing names like Muddy Waters , Howlin' Wolf , King Albert, BB King , and King Freddie as idols of the genre: “It’s difficult to find the words to deeply express how they [Muddy, Howlin', Albert, BB, and Freddie] connected with my soul. But 'blues' for me is a beautiful word that describes a sentimental expression… feelings, whether feelings of sadness, loneliness, emptiness… but also those that express great happiness, celebration, dance, sensuality, and love!!!”

To preview the release, Coverdale had shared a video showcasing the vinyl release; click here to watch.
