David Coverdale , lead singer of Whitesnake , announced via a video posted on social media that he will undergo surgery to treat a bilateral inguinal hernia. Therefore, all dates on the band's tour have been cancelled.
The group was scheduled to tour during the Northern Hemisphere summer, and due to the coronavirus, the dates were uncertain; however, now, with Coverdale's surgery, the shows will not take place. Sammy Hagar & the Circle were to be co-headliners of the tour, and in the video, the vocalist apologizes to the group. Night Ranger was to open the shows.
At 68 years old, David Coverdale will undergo his second major surgery in three years. In 2017, he needed knee surgery due to degenerative arthritis that was preventing him from performing live.
