This Sunday, the 21st, Whitesnake surprised fans by announcing that Michael Devin , their longtime bassist, is leaving the band.

So far, neither Devin nor his bandmates have given further details about the reason for the separation, but Whitesnake used their social media to write a message of thanks to the bassist and to show their affection for him.

“Whitesnake and bassist Michael Devin have decided to part ways after an incredible decade together,” the band wrote. “We all wish Michael success in his life and in all his plans. In addition to countless tours, Michael demonstrated his talent on the albums Forevermore , The Purple Album , and Flesh & Blood .”

“We sincerely thank him for being a part of this journey and for all the exceptional gifts he brought to Whitesnake. Good luck, Michael. Know that we love you and will miss you. We wish you all the best. Once a snake , always a snake .”

The band has confirmed that a new bassist will be announced soon.
