Good things are coming!
Good things are coming!
by Pedro Vilas Boas
2015 is over. It was a very confusing year for rock fans, with irreparable losses and gains that were previously unimaginable, but now it's time to think about what 2016 has in store for us, and look... good things are coming!
We've already started off well with January being a month full of releases, among which some stand out: on the 8th, the tireless David Bowie releases his twenty-sixth studio album, "Blackstar"; on the 15th we have the release of Rhapsody of Fire's tenth studio album, "Into the Legend," a band whose vocalist is Fabio Lione, also known for his work in the Brazilian metal band Angra; speaking of Angra, on the 22nd it's the turn of one of their guitarists, Kiko Loureiro, to release his first album with Megadeth, "Dystopia." Kiko was announced in July 2015 as the band's new guitarist, replacing Chris Broderick, who had been in Megadeth since 2008; and finally, to close out the month of January and its main releases, on the 29th Dream Theater releases "The Astonishing," the band's thirteenth studio album.
February is not far behind, starting very well with The Cult releasing "Hidden City" on the 5th of the month; on the 19th we have "Victorious" by Wolfmother; and to close this month with a flourish, Anthrax releases "For All Kings" on the 26th. In March, the highlight goes to Bon Jovi with "This House Is Not for Sale," the date has not yet been announced.

Disturbed will be touring to promote their new album, “Immortalized,” released last August, marking the band's return after a hiatus of just over four years

In addition to major studio album releases, there are also events that are just as important: all indications suggest that Guns N' Roses will have the long-awaited "classic lineup reunion," or at least part of it, with three original members present: Duff, Slash, and Axl, who until now was the only founding member of the band; Disturbed, one of the most successful bands of recent years, will be touring to promote their new album, "Immortalized," released in August of last year, marking the band's return after a hiatus of just over four years; and besides these two highlighted cases, we will have some very special visits this new year.
One of the biggest Hard Rock bands, Aerosmith, is expected to visit Brazil on their South American tour, but before that, the band's vocalist, Steven Tyler, may come to the country to promote his project within the Country music world; another great band that will honor us with their visit is the Rolling Stones for their South American tour.
Of course, some albums were left out, but that's because there were so many. Anyway, you can see how much fun this new year will be for rock fans, with great events to attend and great albums to listen to. Happy New Year!
