Wendy Dio , widow and manager of Ronnie James Dio , detailed her last interaction with Lemmy Kilmister , two hours before his death.

In an interview with RockTails , Wendy commented on her and Dio's experiences with major rock stars, including Lemmy.

Regarding Dio's relationship with Rob Halford and Lemmy, she said [transcription via Blabbermouth ]: “They were very similar people. They loved hanging out and loved each other very much, they really loved each other.”

Wendy commented on her last meeting with the Motörhead : “I bought him some old German books, I found out he really liked them. They were old books about war. He thanked me for them and then we talked for a while. He then said, 'I'm a little tired, I'm going to lie down.' I went out and went to the mall and, while I was walking around there, his manager called me and said, 'He just passed away.'”

Known for his work with Motörhead, Kilmister was one of the most distinctive voices in rock, with his strong opinions and a lifestyle that defined the rockstar style.

Given his importance to music, a statue was erected in his honor in Staffordshire, England, the region where he was born.
