The first authorized documentary about the life of Ronnie James Dio is in production, and the singer's widow, Wendy Dio , recently watched the first cut of the film. Wendy praised the work of the team involved and said she "cried her eyes out" over the project, which was financed and produced by BMG .

“I saw the first cut recently,” Wendy said. “Last week they arrived in town from New York and we were reviewing several things. It was incredible. They did a great job. I cried my eyes out. The woman from BMG and my publicist were also crying. It was very emotional. They did a really good job.”

Wendy Dio went on to praise the work of those involved, such as Mick Wall , author of the biography Rainbow In The Dark , radio host Eddie Trunk , and the contributions of Lita Ford , Rob Halford , and Glenn Hughes . She also stated that the documentary is "totally different from the book."

Earlier this month, Wendy had given some details about what fans can expect from the film: “It has several images taken from old Super 8 tapes and a few other things. It has fantastic interviews with all sorts of people about when they worked with Ronnie or what they were doing at the time.” The documentary does not yet have a release date.
