Can you imagine Ozzy Osbourne Weezer song ? According to vocalist Rivers Cuomo, it almost happened.
During an interview with Guitar World , Cuomo revealed that "Hash Pipe" could have been a song released by Ozzy, but the Prince of Darkness ended up rejecting the track. The song ended up on Weezer's self-titled 2001 album, also known as the Green Album, and became one of the group's biggest hits.
“Once, I think in 2000, he [Ozzy Osbourne] asked if I had any songs for him, and I had just written 'Hash Pipe',” said the vocalist. “I sent it to him, but he ended up not using it. In another reality, it would be interesting to hear him perform that song.”
Van Weezer's most recent album , was inspired by the classic "Crazy Train," which is why Ozzy and co-writers Randy Rhoads and Bob Daisley appear in the song's credits. "'Blue Dream' initially existed with a different riff. It was good, but the riff was… It was okay, but it wasn't the best guitar riff of all time, as I thought it should be. Coincidentally, at the same time, our manager said, 'Hey, you guys should include the 'Crazy Train' riff in a song.'"
“I know he was thinking, ‘What would get people talking? What would confuse people on the internet?’ I had no idea what I was doing, but it just seemed like the best suggestion. So we tried it, and everything clicked.”
