This week: Sonata Arctica, Grand Magus, and Picture. Turn up the volume!!!
Rafael's sound of the week:
I've always enjoyed scribbling, in a very rough way, about the past and the future. I've always enjoyed being surprised by good bands and music.
Sonata Arctica is not universally loved.
But there's no denying the musical quality and production of this video. And I, who have always liked the band, still need to see them live. But I know that day will come, even if I have to cry tears of ink.
Daniel's sound of the week:
Grand Magus' album "The Hunt" wasn't mentioned in Nando's list of the best of 2012, and we didn't play it in the two special end-of-year episodes (click here and here to listen).
But it's time for me to rectify this oversight and request a song from this album that I've been listening to a lot and that continues to show how Metal is on the rise. From various places, from various styles.
Grand Magus with 'Starlight Slaughter'!!!
Nando's sound of the week:
This was one of the first heavy metal songs I ever heard, and one of the first records I ever bought. The first metal band from the Netherlands! They're back in action with their original bassist and drummer.
