At The Gates' new album will be released on May 18th

Swedish melodic death metal icons At The Gates have released the music video for the title track from their new album, To Drink From The Night Itself.

The video was directed by Patric Ullaeus, who has previously worked with In Flames, Arch Enemy, Amaranthe, Evergrey, Dimmu Borgir, Within Temptation, and many others.

Tomas Lindberg, vocalist of At The Gates, said that “So, the first song to be presented to the public, we chose the one that gives the album its name, which is also the first track on the album. For us, this shows the attitude of the album: raw, hungry and desperate. It also gives an introduction to the concept of the work.”

We live through our art, and the whole album deals with the concept of art. Art as a tool for revolution or suppression. 'To Drink From The Night Itself' is just that, a metaphor about living and breathing through art. Of course, the concept is deeper than that, but this song is the heart of the concept, the fierce call to arms, so to speak. We are still at war, but this time we are fighting against the abyss, the abyss of apathy and oppression. It's an aggressive song, but it also contains many other elements of the band's sound. Melancholy, despair, and struggle.

For the first video, we chose to work with Patric Ullaeus again because he's good at capturing the raw energy of the band playing live.

The band's new album will be released on May 18th via Century Media.
