Ladies and gentlemen, followers, allies, and supporters, this is a solemn broadcast from the Temple of Watain. We announce today that in three years – marking our 30th anniversary – Watain will release his eighth and final studio album.

This album will represent the culmination of a magical three-decade journey, the final crossroads of Watain's path, after which the band will cease to exist. It will be the end of a decades-long triad during which we shared with you – our loyal audience – our sacred path in this strange world, always moving towards the seductive darkness of the End.

Over the next three years, the reasons for this decision will be explained in detail. But for now, we just want to say this:

Haven't our songs and our art always dealt with mortality, finitude, DEATH, and what lies beyond? Now, the time has come for us to claim our own conclusion. To shape it as we shape our stages and our songs – in the flames of will. Instead of being consumed by the jaws of time or crushed by the wheel of circumstances, we choose to let Watain return, undefeated and unshakeable, to the primordial chaos from which he was born.

Here we are, on the verge of our final chapter. Three years of Work still await us. Three liminal years on the borders between the living and the dead, a period in which new music will be created and shared, shows will take place, and other manifestations, which will be revealed in due time, will emanate – with the certainty of DEATH – from the Temple of Watain.

Receive this message not as a farewell, but as the first chord of a sacrificial requiem. And also as an invitation to be part of what we will transform in these last years – something that will be unparalleled.

Praise be to the God-Devil by whom our path is blessed and upon whose altar we now lay this humble offering. To DEATH and beyond!

Formed in 1998, Watain became one of the biggest bands in the black metal scene. The band's latest album, The Agony & Ecstasy Of Watain , was released in April 2022 by Nuclear Blast.
