Warrel Dane passed away in December 2017
Shadow Work is the name of the solo album by American singer Warrel Dane , former vocalist of Nevermore and Sanctuary , which will be released on October 26th by Century Media Records.
Dane passed away in December 2017, a victim of a heart attack in São Paulo, where he was recording the album with Brazilian musicians Johnny Moraes, Thiago Oliveira, Fabio Carito , and Marcus Dotta .
The cover art was done by Travis Smith. “I unearthed the skeleton of an old idea we talked about once, and with a few details and alterations, it was exactly what he envisioned. He loved it and gave me a sketch of what he wanted for the back cover. I finished it by drawing inspiration from old conversations, titles, notes of his, and lyrics he had given me before,” said Smith.
“Recording an album like this and working alongside an artist like Warrel is, in a way, being captivated by his brightest light and, at the same time, being swallowed by his darkest shadow. There is so much to say, and yet nothing to say. Meanwhile, we are proud to share this portrait of the storm we went through in the form of art,” said the band
The album will be released on CD, vinyl, and a special mediabook edition with a 44-page booklet. The album was recorded at Orra Meu Studios and is the second solo album from the vocalist, who released Praises To The War Machine in 2008.
