Wacken Open Air festival has had this year's edition postponed to 2022 , but has already announced the first acts for its highly anticipated return to the in-person format, with the Brazilian band Crypta in the lineup.

Among the 22 bands already announced by the event organizers, Judas Priest is the first headliner, celebrating 50 years of their career. Other highlights include Limp Bizkit , As I Lay Dying , Lacuna Coil , Gwar , Thundermother , and Avantasia , among others.

Fernanda Lira and Luana Dametto , founders of Crypta , were confirmed for the 2020 edition of the festival before leaving the band Nervosa , but the event was canceled that year due to the pandemic. A few days after the news, both announced their departure from the group to pursue Crypta . The new death metal project features guitarists Sonia Anubis and Tainá Bergamaschei .

The next edition of the festival will be the first after two years of rescheduling and postponements due to the pandemic. Now, Wacken Open Air is confirmed to take place between August 4th and 6th, 2022 in Germany.
