Vote here: Do you think music and politics mix?

Wikimetal's editorial team brings up an old discussion to find out what our readers think.

An old debate in the music world, especially in rock and heavy metal, is whether art should be mixed with politics.

Many believe that music is one of several ways to position ourselves politically or even to educate ourselves. Others believe the opposite, that music should be about something lighter to distract us from everyday life.

The topic, of course, becomes even more relevant in an election year, and therefore the Wikimetal would like to know the readers' opinion. Please respond below.

Do you think music and politics mix?

  • Yes, I believe we need to use the reach of music to discuss important issues. (51%)
  • Yes, I believe that music is a political act. (32%)
  • No, when I listen to music I just want to have fun and forget about my problems. (16%)
  • No, I like songs about lighter topics to distract us in our daily lives. (2%)
