Volbeat releases music video for their version of Metallica's "Don't Tread On Me"

The band is part of the list of artists selected for the special edition of 'The Black Album'

Volbeat was one of 53 artists chosen to participate in the re-release of Metallica 's Black Album , which officially takes place on September 10th.

The band recently released their reinterpretation of the track “ Don't Tread On Me ,” a song that some fans and media outlets interpreted as carrying a pro-war message, which James Hetfield reportedly denied in 2012. “We’re just writing songs, we’re not taking political sides,” the singer reportedly said. “'Don't Tread On Me' is one of those 'Don't mess with us' style songs, and obviously referencing the snake and flag made sense on the Black Album since we have the snake icon on the cover.”

So far, versions by other artists have been released of the tracks “ Nothing Else Matters ” by Miley Cyrus and Elton John , “ Enter Sandman ” sung by Colombian singer Juanes , and two versions of “Sad But True,” one by St. Vincent and the other by Jason Isbell .
