Blacky left the band for personal reasons
Voivod posted a statement today on their official Facebook page announcing the departure of bassist Jean-Yves “Blacky” Thériault from the band. According to Voivod, the decision was the bassist's.
"We are saddened to announce that Voivod will no longer be playing with Blacky. Jean-Yves has decided to leave the band for personal reasons. We wish him the best of luck. Voivod continues ," the band announced. The musician, who is part of the original lineup of the Canadian group, had already left Voivod in 1991, only returning in 2008.
The bassist will not be present at the band's next show on the 12th in Quebec. Blacky did not disclose the reasons for his departure, and no replacement has been announced for the band. During Blacky's absence following his first departure, Voivod recorded with Eric Forrest and Jason Newsted.
