Ignacia Fernández , vocalist and founder of the Chilean progressive death metal band Decessus , was crowned Miss World Chile 2025. The event took place last Sunday, the 10th.
The artist had already gone viral after performing a song with her band , along with her colleague and guitarist
Carlos Palma , during the semi-final of the competition. One of the judges stated that he had never seen anything like it in a beauty pageant. The 27-year-old singer beat 19 other finalists and is now preparing for next year's Miss World competition.
Through her Instagram , Ignacia Fernández commented: “I couldn’t be happier and more grateful. I face this beautiful challenge with all my energy and dedication to represent my country in the best way possible. I promise to give my all, with passion, hard work, and purpose. Thank you for the worldwide recognition of my singing, a piece of my soul that inspires me to continue growing and dreaming big. Let’s go, Chile… towards the crown!”
Formed in 2020, Decessus, which also features drummer Martín Fénix and bassist Jaime Pepe , has already opened shows for international artists such as Insomnium , Epica , and Jinjer . The band has also performed at festivals in Finland and Germany.
