Nergal , vocalist of Behemoth , talked about the experience of touring with Slipknot on the We Are Not Your Kind Tour, Corey Taylor 's band made a point of treating the special guests.
“On a personal level, they’re wonderful, very helpful – Corey was so cool,” he said in an interview with Ultimate Guitar . “I’m friends with all of them – I mean, some of them are pretty reclusive, stay away from crowds and parties, but [bassist] V-Man is always there to get into trouble. Jay Weinberg , the drummer, is the coolest guy ever. Corey is amazing, and really, each of them – and also Clown – there’s not enough praise for them.”
The singer also commented on the exceptional fee they received. “We were treated with the utmost respect. This was the highest-paid tour we’ve ever done, and they did it because they really wanted to get the best out of us,” he continued. “It was like, ‘Hey, we’re paying you more than you normally get, but please make sure you impress the audience.’ And we thought, ‘You bet we will!’ So I’m extremely grateful for what Slipknot did for us. It was a game-changer, it really helped us a lot.”
According to Nergal, there was no arrogance on Slipknot's part behind the scenes, and Behemoth is still reaping the rewards of those performances, with several people from Europe commenting that they became fans after seeing the band on tour. "It really works that way, then – Slipknot, thank you very much for that," he concluded.
