The singer founded the band in 1983.

Janet Gardner announced her departure from the band Vixen . The vocalist, who released her first solo album in 2017, shared the news on her social media.

"After many sleepless nights thinking about it, I've decided it's time to leave the band and let Roxy [Petrucci] and Share [Ross] pursue their plans for Vixen's future."

"Vixen will always have a very special place in my heart and I am eternally grateful to have been a part of it," she says.

Gardner, Petrucci, and Ross are considered part of the band's classic lineup alongside guitarist and co-founder Jan Kuehnemund , who passed away in October 2013 after a battle with cancer.
