Vixen made their Brazilian debut at Summer Breeze Brasil this Sunday, the 30th, with an intimate performance that brought the energy of 80s hard rock to the fans in attendance.
The band performed at the Waves Stage, in the auditorium of the Memorial da América Latina, which had exclusive access for fans with Summer Lounge tickets.
With a considerable delay in setting up the stage, which had its curtains open while the audience arrived, it was possible to watch as Lorraine Lewis, Julia Lage, Britt Lightning , and Roxy Petrucci did their soundcheck alongside the technicians. Fortunately, this delay benefited the arrival of more people to the auditorium, which was almost full when the show finally began.
Packed with the band's classics, from "Rock Me" to "Love Made Me," the performance honored Vixen's legacy and delighted die-hard fans, who sang along to every song near the stage.
Currently, only drummer Roxy remains an original member of Vixen, the band that achieved success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Despite releasing only three albums during that period, the band stood out as the only all-female group to achieve chart success on MTV's sales and video charts at the time. Now without original vocalist Janet Gardner , who left a few years ago, Vixen continues as a tribute to founding member Jan Kuehnemund , who passed away in 2013 from cancer.
In a show for a smaller audience at Summer Breeze Brasil, they managed to deliver an energetic and electrifying performance, with enviable charisma and vitality. Whether individually or in the more choreographed moments of the show, the artists shine beyond nostalgia.
Initially seated in the auditorium, the audience rose to their feet during "How Much Love," and most of those present crowded in front of the stage, where they interacted closely with the music until the end with "Edge of a Broken Heart."
