VIPER has just released a 1-minute teaser video that hints at a tribute from the band to Andre Matos .
According to the images in the video clip, which can be seen below, the tribute is scheduled to take place next Monday, June 8th.
The date marks the one-year anniversary of Andre Matos' death due to a sudden heart attack.
The video features photos of Andre Matos at various points in his career with VIPER. Some images date back to the time of Soldiers of Sunrise (1987), the band's debut album and the first album recorded by the late vocalist.
Other photos are from the “To Live Again Tour”, the tour that marked Andre's return to VIPER after a hiatus of more than 20 years. The tour took place between 2012 and 2013, and generated the last official album of Andre Matos' career, as well as a DVD with the recording of the show in São Paulo.
Today's video also features the words "Better Days Are Coming," a phrase from the lyrics of the song "The Spreading Soul," which is on Evolution (1992), VIPER's first album without Andre Matos on vocals.
The teaser ends with the text "The Spreading Soul Forever".
In the final scene of the music video, the date June 8th appears written in Portuguese, English, and Japanese, immediately below the VIPER logo.
With all this in mind, fans of the vocalist are already speculating on social media about what might come next Monday.
In an interview with Wikimetal, VIPER guitarist and co-founder Felipe Machado said that "everything was done with immense care," but that he could not provide further details.
Guilherme Martin , the band's drummer, concludes by saying: "It will be well worth the wait until June 8th."
